Next up was the sketching phase. Now, I ain't no professional artist, but I can doodle. I grabbed my tablet and started laying down some basic shapes, figuring out the pose and composition. This took a few tries, let me tell you. Lots of erasing and redrawing. The key was to not get too bogged down in the details early on. Just get the overall feel right.
Once I had a sketch I was happy with, I moved onto the line art. I usually use a fineliner brush in my drawing program for this.
