My JFK Film Hunt Journey
So last Tuesday, I was poking around old storage boxes in my uncle's garage looking for holiday decorations. Stumbled upon this dusty film reel case hidden behind broken Christmas lights. No label, just covered in weird sticky stuff. My first thought? "What crap did my uncle hoard now?"
Got curious though. Dug out my grandpa's old projector from the basement - thing weighed a ton. Took me three tries just to thread the film properly. Hit play and bam - shaky black-and-white footage of some motorcade. Looked important though. Cars, crowds waving, 1960s vibe.
Here's what I did next:
:max_bytes(150000):strip_icc():focal(479x529:481x531)/Clint-Hill-Jackie-Kennedy-12-101822-c826ad4d05b249c6b4cf75cad634fb78.jpg)
- Paused on license plates: Magnified photos on my phone. Googled "1963 presidential limo plates" at 2 AM
- Freeze-framed signage: Spotted a blurry "Dallas County" building banner
- Cross-checked crowds: Zoomed until I recognized Jackie's pink hat from history books
The projector kept eating film so I set up my DSLR on a tripod. Recorded the whole reel playing against my bedroom wall. Lighting was terrible - kept getting glare spots. Had to use cardboard as a hood.
Post-production was torture. My laptop kept crashing editing 4K footage. Almost chucked it out the window twice. Split the film into 5-second clips thinking "smaller files won't freeze". Wrong. Still took 8 hours to stabilize the shake.
Final piece? When the cleaned-up version showed clear windshield reflection - you could actually see Secret Service guys moving inside the car. Not grainy blob shapes like always. Got chills.
Showed my wife thinking she'd flip. She just said "That's nice honey" and microwaved leftovers. Some people...
Anyway I've called it "JFK in Car Documentary: Must-See Footage Uncovered At Last!" because honestly? Nobody else had this angle. Decades of conspiracy junk buried the real evidence. Still can't believe I found it behind plastic reindeer.

Project took 27 days start to finish. My back hurts from crouching over projectors. But watching that clear footage play smoothly? Man. Finally feel like I can say "case closed".
